Wynwood

We made a very quick trip to Wynwood this weekend.  It was a beautiful day full of great discoveries! It's amazing what parking in a different spot will do for a new found perspective and finding some art work that you've been searching for!
With all the excitement of my new magenta colored hair, I decided to share some of my favorite snap shots sharing the same hue.  And if you want to see how awesome my hair is now, look here and here!

Fake Coffee for Breakfast

In a quest to continue with this clean eating,
I have decided to not drink as much real coffee.
I will still treat myself every now and then,
and you know I can't give up my
Wednesday morning Starbuck's dates
with my boy.
Just taking the coffee intake down a notch.

I found this recipe for fake coffee
and sort of twisted it to make it
my own perfect morning treat.

So, Here is what you will need:

Almond Milk
Almond Butter
Chicory Root based Instant Coffee Substitute
Banana
Pittend Prunes

Step 1:

While your water is boiling,
place 4 prunes and 2 round tsps of coffee substitute
in a heat proof bowl.

Then add 1 cup of boiling water to the bowl and let steep
for 10 minutes.

Step 2:

Meanwhile, in a blender
add 2 tbsps of almond butter, and 1 cup of almond milk.
Slice up a banana and add that to the mix as well.

After the prunes are done soaking,
add the entire contents of the bowl to the blender.
Blend until smooth and then add as much ice as you would like.
I make mine the consistency of a frappuccino.
Enjoy your healthy morning pick me up!

Thankful Thursday

Today,
on a lovely play date with some of our best friends,
I witnessed something that really shook me.

As we were wrangling up our kids,
packing up our bags,
and cleaning up our picnics
Brenda, Lori, and I were stopped in our tracks.
We stood there and watched as two other mothers
across the park cackled and laughed at their two children,
probably ages 11 and 6, pushed and kicked two large trash cans
back and forth until all of the garbage was strewn about.

Instantly I was
Irate.
Disgusted.
and Shaking.

How could these women just stand by with their iPhones
video taping and encouraging such idiotic behavior.
And don't even get me started on the littering part.

I started to get a little bit....
"Oh hold me back Ladies!!!",
but then I realized that for lack of a better term,
her ghetto-ness/white trash would our match me any day.
Myself, being someone who has never been in a physical altercation,
would have never stood a chance when push came to shove.
I did want to go bananas on her though.

I had to get out of there!
Fast!
If I said something on the was past them to the car,
I knew it wasn't going to be pretty.
As we past and all of our children gave them a
"what the fuck are you guys doing?"
look, I walked proud knowing that not one of
my boys friends was stupid enough to do something like that.

No worries though,
the above mentioned mothers-of-the-year
made their hellions clean up the messes that they had made.

For the past few hours since the horrific public display of parenting,
I have not been able to stop thinking about it.
Did they really clean up the mess?
All of it?
Did those kids touch a homeless persons urine?
Exactly how much bacteria was growing in that can?
Yuck!
Did they was their hands before dinner?
Have they ever eaten a vegetable?

The shit cycle has been churning non stop since seeing the whole thing go down.
Let's face it...
(cover your ears!)
those Bitches ruined my day.

Why?
Because negativity will posses your life.
Negative people.
Negative thoughts.
Negative situations.

The negativity took over for me today.
I have had a headache, and I have been tired and frustrated.
I must flush the yuck out and breath in the positive.
Because positive thinking will always lead to positive living.

Be grateful & Inspire

The End of A Cleanse

Well it's over, and to be honest,
week 3's menu was so unappealing that we kinda
just faked the last week.
Sticking to ingredient guidelines we decided to
take our diet decisions into our own hands.

What ever it was about being on this particular
cleanse for so long did something to us.
We noticed a change, and not just the obvious
weight loss.
We noticed ourselves really truly feeling better
and making better decisions about food.

At "the end" we splurged with pizza
and pasta and sodas, and you know what....
we felt like shit.
Who knew? Well I guess we could have guessed it.

So after decided that we didn't want to gain the weight back and sink
right back into old habits,
we have decided to make this change a bit more permanent.
While we are NOT by any means going to be following a strict diet
of only rabbit food, we will be using some of the recipes and eating clean-er.

I was so excited to get back onto the coffee train,
but I must admit it's just not the same.
I used to use a delicious powdered sweet processed creamer.
Well I cut that out because of all of the chemical-ish ingredients.
For a substitute I started using almond milk and honey.
It just wasn't doing it for me, and I was finding myself
making cups (for the ritual of it all) and only drinking half of them.

I am going to be skipping the daily 3-4 cups from here on out.
Not to say that I will stop drinking it all together, it will just
be more of a special occasion type of thing now.

I am going to try a Chicory Root smoothie substitute out
and I will let you know how that works out and share the recipe.

This has become one of my favorite meals,
Baked Salmon with Coconut Broth.
After making it the first time while on the cleanse,
I proclaimed to the hubs that he would be seeing this one again and again.
Really this is not problem for him, he thinks it's super yummy too.
I followed this recipe,
but added some purple cabbage and a hand full of sweet peppers.

So all in all, I am so happy that we did this
grueling cleanse and even more excited that I had such great
support from the hubs and our friends.
I could have never done it with out all the encouragement.
Thanks you all so much.

Twins

It's weird how much my baby sister and I look alike!
When I saw this picture of her on Instagram
the other day, all I could think about
was how awesome her little 10 year old self was!
I mean really really the raddest pre-teen out there!

I also thought that it was hilarious
that we have the same fashion sense.
A little shared sister style!
